With a background in mechanical engineering focused on data, Gavin has more than a decade of experience in data acquisition, control and monitoring, and visualisation.
As the senior theme lead for digital at the University of Sheffield AMRC, Gavin leads a team working on the use of Industry 4.0 digital and connected technologies to enable global companies to stay competitive in an evolving and increasingly complex environment.
His work is focused on linking academic innovation to industrial implementation, as well as identifying and bridging the gaps between the latest technology and the people it will impact. Digital thread concepts form the underlying ethos of Gavin’s work in digital aspects of Industry 4.0, as he firmly believes that they will remain pivotal to manufacturing stability and growth in the UK and worldwide for the coming decades.
