Event details

Fire door safety plays a critical role in protecting lives in social housing, yet responsibilities, standards, and levels of assurance can vary significantly across the sector. This webinar will provide an overview of the current fire safety landscape in social housing, with a particular focus on the role of fire doors in preventing the spread of fire and smoke and supporting safe evacuation.

Drawing on recent large-scale research and engagement with local authorities, the session will explore common challenges associated with fire door inspection, certification, maintenance, and remediation. Attendees will gain insight into how regulatory requirements are being interpreted and applied in practice, and where gaps in consistency and accountability can arise.

The webinar will also consider the wider policy and regulatory context, including emerging expectations following recent building safety reforms. It will highlight why reliable data, clear responsibility, and sustained oversight are essential to improving outcomes for residents, and how different parts of the sector can work together more effectively.

Designed for professionals working across fire safety, housing, and asset management, this webinar aims to support informed discussion and practical thinking. It will provide a foundation for understanding the issues at hand, ahead of the forthcoming publication of new research into fire door safety in social housing.

All attendees will receive a CPD certificate.
