Event details

BS 5839-1:2025 introduces significant updates to the UK’s fire detection and alarm standard, with Clause 17 setting out new requirements for alerting people who are deaf or hard of hearing. This webinar will provide an overview of the changes, explain their practical implications, and help attendees understand how to apply the new guidance effectively.

This webinar will explore the standard’s recommendations for visual, tactile, and text-based alerting, including the use of Visual Alarm Devices (VADs), vibrating pagers, and pillow alarms. The session will also cover key compliance essentials such as alert timing, fail-safe mechanisms, prioritisation of fire signals, and fault reporting requirements.

Using real-world scenarios, we’ll demonstrate how BS 5839-1:2025 can be applied across different settings, from warehouses and high-rise buildings to care homes and hotels. Attendees will gain insights into integration with fire alarm panels, ongoing maintenance expectations, and training considerations to support inclusive, reliable fire safety solutions.

This educational session is ideal for fire safety professionals, facilities managers, and anyone responsible for ensuring compliance. By the end of the webinar, attendees will have a clear understanding of how Clause 17 supports inclusive safety, and how to implement BS 5839-1:2025 recommendations in practice.

All attendees will receive a CPD certificate.
